Client was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of buprenorphine, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and theft by receiving stolen property based on a traffic stop where almost a pound of methamphetamine was discovered in the passenger compartment of a car, in-between Client, who was a passenger, and the driver.
Leslie began representation within a few days of Client’s arrest. Leslie immediately requested a preliminary hearing, which was conducted in the magistrate court within a couple of weeks. After the hearing, Leslie was able to obtain a bond for the Client, who had previous criminal drug history and a pending criminal case in another state. Client was able to bond out before indictment.
Once the case was indicted, Leslie filed a motion to suppress the drugs and firearm. A few months later, Leslie was able to obtain a dismissal in the case.
