Motion for New Trial Granted, December 2021

After three days of post-conviction hearings held in July 2021, Leslie convinced a trial court to grant her Client a new trial. The Court issued its order granting the motion in December 2021.

In court, the Judge described the hearing, which required detailed testimony from multiple experts, as “the motion for new trial hearing that would never end.”

In reality, the motion for new trial took longer than the Client’s trial. Leslie received the case in 2020, and had it resolved within a year, but Client had multiple prior attorneys and had served 17 years of a life without parole sentence before Leslie took the case.

After the Judge granted the motion, the Client was released with credit for time served and returned to his family for the first time in almost two decades.
